The Grieg Lodge Scholarship Fund (GLSF) raises money throughout the year to support educational scholarships for students with an interest in Scandinavian heritage, culture, or community. Our fundraisers are fun, engaging events that bring people together—whether you're playing vintage Bingo, shopping for Nordic treasures, enjoying lutefisk and Aquavit, or listening to four pianists on two grand pianos. Every dollar raised helps us continue this important work. Learn more about our signature events below and how you can be part of the tradition.
Hosted during Norse Hall’s monthly “Thank Goodness It’s Fourth Friday” (TGIFF), Bingo Night! is a fun and casual evening of games, prizes, and camaraderie. We play with vintage bingo cards that have been at the lodge for decades, adding a nostalgic charm to every round. Prizes for winners range from live plants and baked goods to gift cards from beloved local businesses. Cards are $10 each—and you can play as many as you can handle! No RSVP is needed (for now), and we accept cash, check, or credit card. The bar is open with member pricing and often features a Norwegian-themed drink special. While TGIFF is primarily for members, guests are warmly welcome—especially if they’re curious about joining the lodge or volunteering with GLSF. Typical attendance is 30–40 people.
The next Bingo Night! is Friday, September 26, 2025. We hope to see you there!
Located on the main floor of Norse Hall—at the end of the hallway opposite the bar—the Landhandel is our cozy gift shop, filled with Scandinavian charm. Originally the lodge’s coat room, the space now features decorative iron gates adorned with Norse runes and shelves stocked with treasures. You’ll find everything from Norwegian sweaters and handmade crafts to lefse griddles and unique items brought directly from Norway. Many of our offerings are generously donated by community members, and we warmly welcome new donations of gently used or unused Scandinavian goods. Some items are also handmade by lodge members or purchased to round out our selection. All proceeds go directly to the Grieg Lodge Scholarship Fund to help support future scholars. While there’s no online shop (yet!), we’ve talked about it for the future. The Landhandel is open during lodge events, including the Viking Pancake Breakfast, TGIFF, membership meetings, and major annual celebrations.
The annual Lutefisk Dinner at Norse Hall is one of our biggest events of the year—and a major fundraiser for the Grieg Lodge Scholarship Fund. Open to the public and held each November, this beloved tradition features four seatings (noon, 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm), serving up to 500 guests throughout the day. The menu includes classic Scandinavian fare: lutefisk (of course!), cream, butter, potatoes, Swedish meatballs with gravy, red cabbage, and dessert. The bar is open all day, and yes—there’s always Aquavit.
Alongside the meal, the Bucket Raffle and Scandinavian Sale offer even more ways to support GLSF. Raffle prizes include coastal hotel stays, Mt. Hood resort getaways, local experiences like wine tastings and dinners, handcrafted art, themed gift baskets, and membership gift certificates. Tickets are sold in advance at lodge events and meetings, and also at the door. Winners are drawn after the final seating and notified by phone, text, or email—no need to be present to win! (Pro tip: bring address labels to save time filling out tickets.)
The Scandinavian Sale is a super-sized version of our regular Landhandel gift shop. Think: books, art, sweaters, cookware, and vintage Scandinavian collectibles—many of them donated by community members. You might even discover a Jule (Christmas) plate from your birth or anniversary year!
The bar, Landhandel, raffle tables, and sale all open at 11:00 a.m. and stay open through the final seating. It’s a day full of tradition, good food, and great finds—all supporting scholarships for the next generation.
Eight Hands Too Grand is a truly special GLSF fundraiser that’s been delighting audiences for decades. Held every two or three years at a private home, the event features four pianists—longtime friends, including the homeowner—playing two baby grand pianos in harmony. While not professionals, these musicians have played together for years, creating an intimate and joyful musical experience in a relaxed salon-like setting. The event is open to the public, though attendance is limited to just two dozen guests, making it one of our most exclusive gatherings. Past events have included special performances by vocalists, adding to the evening’s charm.
Guests are invited to enjoy not just the music, but also appetizers, wine, and the opportunity to wander through a beautiful private garden. When the next event is announced, tickets will be available for purchase at lodge events, meetings, and online. It’s a magical evening of music, community, and support for scholarships.
